This Saturday May 1st, 2010 I start a new photo class called "In Focus II, Composition" I can hardly wait to learn what this is all about.

I took this shot yesterday after the rain, it's one of my favorites for it's color.

I'm posting some random pics that I took in April. The photo below was an experiment, of a technique called finger painting. I like the fade in and fade out look of it.
Those are some big shoes for grandson Trenton to fill.

What's New...

I'm in between Photography classes right now, so I'm kinda on my own here. The next class I plan to take is called "In Focus II", Composition. I think the class may have to wait until fishing season is over, and it has only just begun! }<)))))0>

I went to Little Italy last week and took these shots. I'm not sure about what I did with the second one. It kinda looks like water color.....This weekend there is an art walk!
Little Italy comes alive with the largest art festival on the west coast! Come on down to Mission Federal ArtWalk San Diego on Saturday and Sunday, April 24th and 25th from 11am to 6pm. Art, Music, Food and Fun for all! See you there!

In Focus I Class, week IV

On Wednesday March 24, my photography class was held at the Embarcadero. My teachers (Rod and Robin Deutschmann) had the class do a Scavenger Hunt, we were all given the same list,

of the types of photo's required. We were allowed to take them of whatever inspired us.
We were only allowed to keep the shots that were required.

I think by doing that we were forced to make sure we got THE ONE. When you've taken THE ONE, you know it! It's the one you can be proud of!!!

All of my classes have been so much fun, and I have learned so much more than I ever expected to. An SLR camera, it just sounded intimidating to me. Rod and his wife Robin are excellent teachers and artists. They are encouraging, patient and it's so obvious that they love what they do.

I still haven't taken my camera out of manual, I never will, there is no need!!!

In Focus I Class, week II

I took this pic when I went fishing on Sunday March 14th, trying to do a class assignment called "Perspective" I call it "Man Eating, Fish" or is it "Fish, Eating Man"???

In Focus I Class, week I

This afternoon I was practicing taking blury pictures.......Yes, you heard me right!!!

It's called depth of field or DOF.

I like the results!

In Focus I class, week 1

I just started a new photography class yesterday March 6th, 2010. Class was held at Balboa Park. Here are some pictures that I took after class, practicing with shutter speeds and lighting.

Yesterday at the park, I noticed a figure of a woman on this building, I thought she looked like she was carrying a huge burden. After I took the first shot I noticed my image didn't look at all like what I was thinking. There was way too much detail.This first pic was taken with a 1/30 ss...

The second shot with 1/60 ss...less detail.

The third with 1/100 ss...
I found that a faster shutter speed, picked up less detail on the building, which put more emphasis on the woman and her daunting burden....
This is the image that I was seeing in my minds eye!

Just as an experiment, I took this fourth shot with an even faster ss 1/320 and changed the iso from 100 to 1600. And the shot was no good because there was just too much info.
