In Focus I class, week 1

I just started a new photography class yesterday March 6th, 2010. Class was held at Balboa Park. Here are some pictures that I took after class, practicing with shutter speeds and lighting.

Yesterday at the park, I noticed a figure of a woman on this building, I thought she looked like she was carrying a huge burden. After I took the first shot I noticed my image didn't look at all like what I was thinking. There was way too much detail. This first pic was taken with a 1/30 ss...

The second shot with 1/60 ss...less detail.

The third with 1/100 ss...
I found that a faster shutter speed, picked up less detail on the building, which put more emphasis on the woman and her daunting burden....
This is the image that I was seeing in my minds eye!

Just as an experiment, I took this fourth shot with an even faster ss 1/320 and changed the iso from 100 to 1600. And the shot was no good because there was just too much info.
